EntreXBrochure (PDF)

Do you want to improve your community, change the world, disrupt the current marketplace?

Entre-X and Lead-X will be taught as a full year sequence of elective courses on entrepreneurship and business practice through the University of Delaware. Building on Hyde’s existing Inner Leadership Curriculum, these offerings will help students to cultivate the mindset, habits, and character ethic necessary for effective self-leadership in a constantly evolving and complex marketplace. Students who successfully complete both courses in a single Academic Year will qualify for up to 4 dual-enrollment university credit hours at the Horn School of Entrepreneurship.

This will be the pilot program for this High School Course in the State of Maine. EntreX provides a comprehensive introduction to entrepreneurship through experiential learning, reflection, and an evidence-based approach. Students will explore real-world problems and transform them into opportunities, utilizing tools like the business model canvas and customer discovery interviews.

RELIABLE TRANSFERABLE UNIVERSITY
CREDITS

Getting up to 4 transferable college credits through the Entre-X and Lead-X courses offered by Horn Entrepreneurship provides students with unique advantages. Students will gain valuable exposure to university-level coursework at a top-tier business school. These credits are transferable, meaning they can be applied to a variety of colleges or universities, potentially reducing the time and cost required to complete a four-year undergraduate degree, or fast track a student interested in pursuing a Masters, MBA, or work in a Startup business. These courses will not only prepare students for the rigor of higher education, but help them gain the confidence to succeed in an academic environment. Earning college credits through the Entre-X and Lead-X programs is an invaluable opportunity that sets students on a path toward academic and career success.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

The Entre-X Lab fosters global classroom connections, allowing students to engage with real-world challenges in their communities, while building a network of like-minded individuals both at Hyde and at other schools in the Horn School of Entrepreneurship’s international network of partner high schools. As part of this experience, students will connect with peers, mentors, and professionals from diverse backgrounds, fostering valuable relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

The program's practical approach to business development allows students to work on real-world challenges, from entrepreneurship to sustainable design and leadership. Throughout this journey, they will gain experience in creating, planning, and executing business ideas, all while learning essential skills such as collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. By actively engaging in this process, students not only enhance their entrepreneurial mindset but also gain insights into the practical aspects of business growth and innovation.

PUBLIC SPEAKING CONFIDENCE & CREATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING

These concurrently taught courses provide students with an incredible opportunity to build public speaking confidence through dynamic Shark-Tank-like simulations, pitching competitions, and brand development exercises. These experiences challenge students to present and defend their business ideas, helping them hone their persuasive communication skills in front of peers, mentors, and judges. Through these simulations and competitions, students learn to clearly articulate their vision, respond to questions under pressure, and adapt their approach based on feedback—key skills for future leadership roles.

In addition to public speaking, the program emphasizes practical themes such as risk management, creative problem-solving, and sustainable design. Students develop a deep understanding of how to navigate challenges and make informed decisions in real-world business situations. This practical focus on business development and leadership aligns seamlessly with Hyde School's character-based curriculum, which encourages personal growth, integrity, and responsibility. As students engage in these hands-on experiences, they not only gain confidence in their ability to present and lead, but also deepen their commitment to ethical decision-making and resilient leadership.
