Welcome to Wolfpack Nation!

Stefan Jensen
Athletic Director

Everyone is a student-athlete at Hyde School.  Despite varying athletic backgrounds, interests and abilities, all students participate in all three seasons of sports.  We strongly believe that being on a team fosters the development of life skills such as sportsmanship, leadership, and the spirit of competition.

We strive to offer our student-athletes a sports program that both supports and challenges students to pursue their best. Character happens when students deal with the physical and mental challenges that come with being an athlete. Hyde's Athletic Department is dedicated to creating an athletic experience where what is learned not only applies to the field, the track, or the mat, but to the classroom and beyond.

Basketball here helped me learn how to adapt and become a leader. The team atmosphere made it feel like home. Winning the championship was the cherry on top!

My season at Hyde School helped me build up my leadership, and also showed me that soccer is not just about running after the ball.

News and Recaps

32nd Annual James Roman Tournament

Upcoming is the 32nd annual tournament held in memory of James Tomas Roman, a student-athlete who passed away suddenly during a pickup game of basketball at Hyde School in February of 1988. James enrolled at Hyde during the summer of 1986. After completing the Summer Leadership Challenge Program, the freshman went on to perform at an honors level in his academic courses and received the distinguished Headmaster’s Commendation both semesters.

In athletics, James was equally hard-working and impressive. He is remembered by many for his performance during a game at the Augusta Civic Center during the 1988 Western Maine Class B, C, and D Basketball Tournament where he fired two straight 15-foot shots that kept Hyde in the game against Valley High School of Bingham. Hyde went on to win in overtime 80-78.
