Welcome to Wolfpack Nation!

Stefan Jensen
Athletic Director

Everyone is a student-athlete at Hyde School.  Despite varying athletic backgrounds, interests and abilities, all students participate in all three seasons of sports.  We strongly believe that being on a team fosters the development of life skills such as sportsmanship, leadership, and the spirit of competition.

We strive to offer our student-athletes a sports program that both supports and challenges students to pursue their best. Character happens when students deal with the physical and mental challenges that come with being an athlete. Hyde's Athletic Department is dedicated to creating an athletic experience where what is learned not only applies to the field, the track, or the mat, but to the classroom and beyond.

Basketball here helped me learn how to adapt and become a leader. The team atmosphere made it feel like home. Winning the championship was the cherry on top!

My season at Hyde School helped me build up my leadership, and also showed me that soccer is not just about running after the ball.

News and Recaps

Let Spring Sports Begin!

Spring sports are off to a great start! We are offering girls lacrosse, boys lacrosse, track and field, and tennis. All teams have begun their practices and each is really coming together in just a short amount of time. We have not been outside much thanks to the Maine weather, but we hope to be soon.

Girls lacrosse is off to an exciting start including some girls that have had some experience, as well as those brand new to the sport. Whatever their background, each day they come out with a positive attitude and are ready to learn from Coach Truluck and Coach Kent. Day-by-day, their skills improve and their spirits continue to grow. We are looking forward to a great season!

Boys lacrosse developed a team mentality very quickly and are on the quest for something really special this spring! The Wolfpack Boys are holding each other accountable and the experienced players are supporting new players to get better quickly!

Track and field looks to go for their 3rd straight MAISAD Championship this spring! They have some returners, but they have a lot of new athletes who fit in just nicely. They have been working hard and soon they will be outside preparing for their events.

The tennis team has one of the strongest teams we have seen in some time, and they look to make their presence known this spring in the MAISAD Conference. Competition is high on this team right now which gives everyone the opportunity to push themselves and not settle. It is exciting to watch!

Overall, it has been an amazing start, and we look forward to keeping this going as we move through the next couple weeks when teams begin competitions on April 1st. Let’s GO WOLFPACK!

BOYS JV HOOPS WIN THE 2023/24 MAISAD TITLE!

BOYS JV HOOPS WIN THE MAISAD TITLE!

The Hyde School Boys JV Basketball Team are MAISAD Champions after a 42-30 victory over Kents Hill!  The game had many ups and downs but JV hoops prevailed through grit and determination and was able to bring home the title for the first time in 10-plus years!

Game highlights include tough performances by Wyatt ‘26, who had 10 points and 10 blocks.   Panagiotis aka Totis ‘25 scored 12 points, Brady ‘26 with a big-time three at an important moment of the game, and Delow ‘27 played heavy on the defense as he shut down Kents Hill’s best player of the game.

The Wolfpack battled all season long and it all came together this week as they played their best basketball of the season. It was a great season overall finishing 11-4! The JV hoops team has one more game “The Battle of the Bridge” today against Wiscasset in the Joe at 3:30 pm! Let’s get it done boys!

2024 Senior night for the Swim Team

It was an exciting season in the pool for the Hyde Wolfpack Swim Team!  From start to finish, the team never gave up even when facing tough competitors and improved at each meet.  Composed of both new and experienced swimmers, the Wolfpack showed grit, worked together, and had fun.  Some highlights include the following swimmers:

Noah ‘24 wrapped up her high school swimming career with personal bests in many events.

Vlad ‘24, with no prior experience, put forth tremendous effort to become a strong swimmer specializing in breaststroke.

Guido ‘24, while unable to compete, served as a leader and role model on the team.  He was a huge motivator and gave his all at every practice.

Jahmir ‘24, who initially was just on the team to rehab his knee, was a delight to coach.  He competed in our last meet, and, with no swimming experience, had a great finish to the season.

Milos ‘25 just missed qualifying for states in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free.  We are looking forward to next year when he will surely be representing the Wolfpack at states.

Glan ‘25 had a solid year and has high hopes for his senior year.

Hugo ‘26 made some great strides this year and will surely qualify for states next year.

Maria ‘26 came into the season with some experience swimming back home in Spain.  She was an integral part of the team, and she was our backstroke specialist.

Harry ‘27 came to us with some swimming experience, much of it from surfing.  He improved immensely throughout the season.

We are so proud of what our Wolfpack accomplished in the pool.  Best of luck to our seniors, and we can’t wait to see what the returning students do next season!

Class A Wrestling 2024

Last weekend Hyde Varsity Wrestling traveled to Northfield Mount Hermon to compete at the Class A Wrestling Championship.  The Wolfpack brought home eight individual placements including our first-ever champions in the girls division.

Koda '25 and Alexis '25 both placed 1st in their respective brackets and are Hyde's first-ever female Class A Champions!  In addition, Hyde also had strong showings from Delow '27 4th place, Ben '27 6th place, Braydon '25 5th place, Damon '26 4th place, Aidan '24 6th place, and Max '24 4th place.

The core values of the wrestling program this year have been commitment, buy-in, curiosity to get better, toughness, and belief. This group fully embodied these values and it led to many impressive achievements.  Next stop is the New England Championship at Choate Rosemary Hall!  Hyde is sending five wrestlers to compete this weekend, and depending on placements will qualify for nationals.

Great season so far, but the job is not finished!! #toughasnails
