Public Speaking
Just like all aspects of the Hyde co-curricular program, everyone is engaged in developing public speaking confidence. The weekly school-wide course focuses on skills, techniques, body language, and attitudes that can increase confidence and assertiveness when it comes to owning one's voice. As the class progresses over the course of the year, students learn to speak in both impromptu and formal situations. Challenging everyone to step out of their comfort zone, yet also relax and have fun, creates a dynamic atmosphere. While not all students are excited at first, there is widespread acknowledgment that the class sets up students for success in many areas including academic and work-related situations.
