Maine’s 10 Best Lobster Shacks

If you plan to get up our way this summer, you may want to check out travelandleisure.com’s ranking of Maine’s ten best lobster shacks. I’ve been to just about all of them and they’re all fantastic. (Also, numbers 1-7 are within an hour’s drive of Bath.) I’ve been a huge Red’s fan since I was in high school. (And if you don’t want to take my word for it, check out the long line of loyal customers queued up every summer afternoon and evening.) Five Islands, less than a half hour drive from Hyde, may be my favorite of the bunch. Bring your own salad and beverages, set your family up on a picnic table on the dock, and you’re good to go. The list:

1. Five Islands Lobster Pound – Georgetown
2. Waterman’s Beach Lobster – S. Thomaston
3. Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf – New Harbor
4. Red’s Eats – Wiscasset
5. Morse Lobster @ Estes Lobster House – Harpswell Neck
6. Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster – S. Freeport
7. Clam Shack – Kennebunkport
8. Barnacle Billy’s – Ogunquit
9. Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier – Kittery Point
10. Bagaduce Lunch – Brooksville
