Hyde School 15- Gould Academy 10 4/11/18
The Hyde Girls Varsity Lacrosse team faced a talented Gould Academy for their Maisad opener Wednesday. In the first half, the teams traded goals as each team was trying to find its rhythm. Gould went on a three goal-scoring run to place Hyde at a disadvantage in the midpoint of the first half. With four minutes to play, Bailey Kent ’18 roared into the midfield and took possession for a goal. Goals by Merrill Truluck’18 and Liza Burroughs’18 moved Hyde into a 7-7 tie with Gould. At the start of the second half, Hyde came out with the same intensity. Reeling off five straight goals by Logan Truluck ’20, Hyde held Gould scoreless for the first 16:30 of the second half. Intensity, determination, and grit rather than talent often determine the outcome of a contest and this was no different. Hyde’s success built on groundballs, steals, and forced turnovers. Strong defense by lacrosse newcomers Zakiiyah Pulliam-Holmes’18, Emma Geertgens ’19, and Ashlynn Buell’19 all contributed to the possession imbalance. Hyde Faces Metro Lax – Boston Saturday at 11:30 in Dorchester Ma.
