This was a close one for the Wolfpack. Sachin Venkatesh`18 had an exciting match, beating the defending MAISAD singles champion. Late in the first set he rallied from a 4-5 deficit to take the set 7-5. He got down early in the second set 1-4, but again made up considerable ground and tied it at 6-6 to force a tiebreaker which he won 8-6. It was a hard fought battle that demonstrated his great tennis skills, but more impressively his strong mental fortitude. Rowan Schwartzwald`19 struggled in the first set to find his groove, but had a stellar second set, nearly forcing a third. Able Kaplan`20 played a better match than the score may indicate. Many games went to deuce and he and his opponent had numerous long rallies. Se Jun Kim`18 and Henry Tao`18 fell to a strong 1st double team. The 2nd doubles match was competitive from an athletic standpoint. Both teams had some great plays at net and made solid shots. However, Oliver Wiess`19 and Ale’ Atkins`20 won key points at key times to secure the win. Our next match is on Saturday April 21st at home with Gould Academy.
