Hyde Boys Basketball wins GFA Invitational

The Wolfpack boys prep basketball team traveled to Green Farms Academy for the annual invitational tournament. In the first round they were matched up with a tough post graduate program Spire institute from Ohio. Hyde was lead by Frankyn Batista ’19 who had an astonishing 32 points and 19 rebounds. Frankyn has been nothing short of great, he responds to any challenge and has uplifted the team during tough moments with his aggressive attacking style of play. Aidan Carpenter ’20 put on a show as well scoring 23 points to go along with 8 assist. Aidan the floor general was showcasing impressive ball handling skills against some high level players and didn’t upset those in attendance. Jalen Graham ’20 added 18 points and 2 two key steals that turn into big scoring spurts for the wolfpack. Back an forth fast pace scoring had fans on the edge of there seats but Hyde seemed to have the upper hand in this battle an brought home the win, they will go up against NEPSAC B class Green Farms academy in the championship Saturday at 3:00 pm.

Hyde boys basketball visited Green Farms Academy to compete in the Championship game at the GFA invitational on Saturday afternoon. In the evenly matched game Hyde showcased its best efforts throughout the entire game to capture its first win against GFA in quite some years. Hyde had many players in double figures Frankyn Batista ’19 with a double double 15 points and 13 rebounds, Edwin Ezedonmwen ’18 with 12 points 3 steals and 2 blocks he was the defensive vocal leader in the game. Jeremiah Wright ’18 12 points scoring when it counted most he made some big 3 point shots to keep us within wining range. The game was one to remember both teams went down as much as 8 points in crucial moments but would fight back to bring it close. Aidan Carpenter ’20 had 13 points and was named GFA inviatational MVP, throughout the game he seemed to keep his composure letting his teammates know we can win this game if we continue to fight and that’s exactly what the end result was Hyde 60 GFA 58 with seconds expiring on the clock. The Hyde wolfpack boys basketball team moves to 7-0 on the season and will play Westnottingham (MD) at the St Andrews classic in RI at 3:30 pm.
