Wolfpack Swimming Makes an Opening Splash

Boys: Hyde 52; MTA 44

Girls: MTA 126; Hyde 25

As evening fell upon the mid-coast last Friday, the Wolves of Hyde Swimming suited up to take on the Eagles of Mt. Ararat in home waters.  The energy in Wiscassett was electric as the nearly packed house cheered for the starting buzzer.

Our 200 Medley Relay teams stepped onto the blocks first.  Our boys, lead by captains Brenden Lutes ’18 and Sam Wolters ’18, won an exciting race by 1.31 seconds.  Senior Will Duerr ’18 closed the relay with a personal record in the 50-Freestyle.  This race helped set the tone for the remainder of the meet for our boys and girls.  Next, a handful of our girls competed in their first competitive swimming event.  Shout outs go to Nicole Mooney ’18 who scored points in the 50-Freestyle and 100-Freestyle, and Kim Xu ’18 who overcame personal swimming hurdles all week to be ready for her first meet.  Sophomores Logan Truluck ’20 and Stratton Karangelen ’20 both scored points in multiple events adding to the final Hyde tallies.  We look forward to our makeup meet with Lewiston and an exciting 2018 in the pool.

Thank you to all of the faculty, staff and students who came to time and support!

Happy Holidays,

Coach Kinney
