Hyde School: 4
Kents Hill: 1
Kents Hill traveled to Bath to play the first round of the MAISAD tournament on Wednesday. The game was played on the turf field under clear skies and cool temperatures.
Possession switched back and forth for much of the first half of play. Both teams had attacking runs, but no goals were scored until the 39th minute when Derrick Dwinkangura`18 slotted an unassisted goal. The Wolfpack had a 1-0 lead at half time.
The Hyde squad came out in the second half with increased determination. However, in spite of this, Kents Hill managed to score the tying goal in the 63rd minute. The Wolfpack countered in the 72nd minute when Jed Danforth`19 scored from inside the box off a Liam Monahan`18 assist to go up 2-1. Captain Mwesa Mulonda notched one in the 88th minute, followed by Captain Maulid Abdow in the 89th.
This was a good win for the team. It took a while to get going, but with persistence and patience, the boys found a path to victory. With this win, the team advances to the MAISAD finals on Saturday. The match will be played against Hebron Academy on their home pitch at 1:00pm. The boys have played some of their best soccer this season when matched up with the Lumberjacks. It promises to be an intense competition.
