Hyde School: 2
Tilton School: 1
Boys Varsity Soccer traveled to Tilton New Hampshire on Saturday for a match with the Rams. The game was played on a natural grass pitch under clear skies and warm temperatures.
The Wolfpack stuck early, scoring in the 9th minute when Captain Maulid Abdow slotted one from inside the box on a Derrick Rwikangura`18 assist. Hyde scored again in the 23rd minute on an unassisted goal from Captain Mwesa Mulonda. The score at half time was 2-0.
Tilton notched their only goal in the 60th minute. There was much back and forth play with both teams having chances to score in the remaining 30 minutes. However, the defensive unit of Liam Monahan`18 at left back, Serge Mudogo`18 and Will Duerr`18 playing central defenders and Altug Yilmaz`19 at right back, worked hard to thwart offensive attacks by the Rams. Keeper Kordell Smith`18 made some nice saves to keep the opponent from tying the match. Concurrently, the attacking players continued working to score. Defensive Midfielder Cooper Felt`19 worked with attacking center midfielders Mulonda and Abdow to maintain possession of the ball. With the help of Jed Danforth`19 and Bobby Carter`20; left and right wingers respectively, the offensive unit kept the pressure on and managed to generate some promising chances. However, none resulted in goals.
This was a solid win for the team. They played with a lot of heart, particularly in the final 20 minutes of the game when an opposing goal may have resulted in a tie, and a Wolfpack goal could have cemented a win. The next game is on Wednesday November 1st in Bethel Maine. The Wolfpack will face Gould Academy at 3:30pm.
