Hyde School: 4
Kents Hill: 4
Kents Hill School travel to Bath to play a MAISAD match on Saturday. The game was played on a natural grass pitch under clear and unseasonably warm temperatures.
The Wolfpack struck first early in the game when Will Duerr`19 kicked a beautiful ball from the back of the defense forward into the box. Captain PG Maulid Abdow deftly put in into the back of the goal. Six minutes later in the 13th minute, Cooper Felt`18 score an unassisted goal. Three minutes later Captain PG Mwesa Mulonda scored on an assist from Derrick Rwikangura`19. The 4th goal for Hyde was the result of a ball that deflected off a Kents Hill defender which was last played by Mwesa Mulonda. The score at halftime was 4-0.
Kents Hill came out firing during the second half. Two minutes after the kick off, they scored their first goal on a cross that was deflected into the goal by a Wolfpack defender. Eight minutes later, in the 55th minute of play, they scored again off a direct kick taken from outside the box on the right side. This resulted in a momentum switch with the opponent outshooting the Wolfpack in the remaining minutes. Ultimately, they were able to find the back of the net twice more to even the score and force a tie.
This was a tough game for the Wolfpack. The boys played really well during the first half of play, passing the ball well and creating numerous scoring chances. However, for various reasons, they lost their balance during the last 45 minutes of play. Numerous mistakes, and poor choices resulted in the opponent mounting an impressive comeback that could have resulted in defeat. A step of discipline will be needed to address these shortcomings. These two team square off again on Wednesday October 18th at 4:30pm at Kents Hill. It should be a competitive game.
