Wolfpack Boys Varsity Over Gould 4-2

Hyde School:     4
Gould:                2

Gould Academy traveled to Bath to play the first of two regular season MAISAD matches.  The game took place on the turf field under clear and unseasonably warm temperatures.

The Wolfpack scored early in the game with a goal from forward Derrick Rwikangura`19; one of two on the day for him.  Hyde scored again in the 34th minute when Post Graduate Captain Mwesa Mulonda found the back of the net.  With just under 6 minutes left in the half, these two worked together to create some more magic.  Derrick Rwikangura`19 scored on a perfectly placed assist from PG Mwesa Mulonda.  The score at the half time break was 3-0

Gould came out strong in the second half.  They scored a nice header goal off a throw in in the 50th minute, and a second 6 minutes later to make it 3-2.  The Wolfpack was on their heels for a short time, but regained their composure and created multiple scoring chances after the second Gould goal.  None of the shots resulted in goals until the 73rd minute.  Derrick Rwikangura`19 was fouled by the Gould goal keeper in the box and awarded a penalty kick as a result.  Post Graduate Captain Maulid Abdow converted it to go up 4-2.  Both teams had scoring chances in the remaining 17 minutes but none resulted in goals.

Other noteworthy contribution came from Jed Danforth`19 at left outside midfield.  He moved the ball well  down the flank and created numerous scoring chances with quality crosses into the box.  Also, Cooper Felt`19 had another solid performance at the defensive center midfield position.  Additionally, Captain Serge Mudogo`18 was effective at anchoring the defensive unit.

This was a good test for us.  The opponent came out of the half time break with intensity and briefly managed to get us out of shape.  It was encouraging to see the Wolfpack counter and respond by matching their intensity and regaining their form.  Our next game will be on October 11th with Dublin School in Epping New Hampshire at the Seacoast Soccer complex.  Kick off is set for 3pm.
