Hyde – 4
Dublin – 1
The Wolfpack traveled to the Seacoast Sports Complex in Epping New Hampshire to face Dublin on neutral ground. It was a match that ended in a tie the year previous. With two practices since their last game, they looked forward to executing tactical tune-ups. Hyde played an outstanding first half. In addition to controlling the mid-field, they honed their back line formation, repeatedly turning back Dublin’s attack. A more focused approach to offense paid off ten minutes into the period when Ingrid Shroeter ’19 buried a perfect cross from Logan Truluck ’20. The momentum built as the Wolfpack delivered several threatening shots on goal. Five minutes later, Caroline Daly ’19 added a final touch to the ball before the Dublin keeper lost control of it and it went in the back of the net for the second Hyde goal. Despite a lull in the scoring, Hyde continued to dominate play and moved the ball well through the midfield and flanks. The third and final goal of the half would come when Logan Truluck ’20 carried the ball from just over midfield and struck a low shot just inside the post. The half ended with the Wolfpack leading 3-0.
The beginning of the second half looked as if play would resume as it had prior when nine minutes in Bailey Kent ’18 shot low and hard leading to a deflection that was finished by captain Lauren Leask ’18. This would remain Hyde’s lone goal of the half as their play began to sag. Dublin was able to muster several offensive drives and finally capitalized as a Hyde player drew a charge in the box. Dublin’s striker scored on the penalty kick with five minutes left in the game. Notable performances for the Wolfpack included Caroline Daly ’19 at outside midfield and Francesca Zenker ’19 at center midfield. The Hyde girls prepare to return to MAISAD play against Gould who they faced in their first game of the season.
