Tough Loss for Wolfpack Girls V Soccer vs St. Andrews

September 23, 2017

Hyde – 1
St. Andrews School – 3

The Wolfpack faced St. Andrews School on a beautiful sunny day on the Hyde School turf.  The girls played well in the first half, but could not get very many shots off.  After getting tired towards the end of the first half, the team found themselves down 2-0 at halftime.

As the second half began, the girls settled into their possession game.  The team had time and space to move the ball around their opponents and started to generate some offense.  Early into the half, center back Rachel Willey ’20 was released as a roaming “goal hunter”. With about 14 minutes left in the game, St. Andrews netted another goal with a through ball that just slipped past our defense.  But just over a minute later the Wolfpack answered back.  Willey ’20 fielded a throw-in from Logan Truluck ’20 just outside the top of the box.  She took a touch and bent a beautiful shot over the goalie’s head and into the back of the net.  The girls fought hard for the rest of the half, but came up short with a 3-1 final in favor of St. Andrews.  Next, they face Hebron away on Wednesday, September 27th.
