Hyde School: 9 Gould Academy: 7
Last Friday, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team headed down to the turf to play the visiting Gould Huskies for the second time in the 2017 season. After taking the first matchup in a 9-8 overtime win, it was clear from the start that this would be a tough game for both sides. The game was played under sunny skies in warm weather.
For the duration of the game, the action was back and forth as these teams showed once again that they are very evenly matched on both sides of the ball. Every time one of the teams looked to pull away, the other side would come back; no team would ever have a lead of more than two goals throughout. The difference maker for the Hyde side would ultimately be the goalie play, as McGehee Porter ‘17 (17 saves) once again showed up big in a league game. Offensively, the Phoenix were paced once more by Reese Norton ‘17 (5g, 1a). Other contributors on the offensive end were Greg Kidger ‘17 (2g), Michael Muench ‘17 (1g, 1a), and Brandon Nelson ‘17 (1g). The defensive end was held down by Stephen O’Brien ‘18, who has proved to be an invaluable addition to the team, as well as Jared Durkin ‘18, Stephen Waddill ‘17, and Parker Ward ‘17.
It was the 4th win for the Phoenix on the season as they look to build momentum leading up to the conference tournament.
