The wolfpack hosted Worcester Academy on a beautiful sunny spring afternoon. The wolfpack were hoping to avenge an early season loss to a strong Worcester squad. Hyde jumped out of the “gate” scoring minutes into the contest on a beautiful feed from Cooper Felt ’19 to senior mid-fielder Spencer Levin ’17 to take an early lead 1-0. The game continued to go back and forth with strong physical play from face-off wizard Alex Sobel ’17, attackman Ian White ’18 and defenseman Nick Loris ’18. Unfortunately, a few costly penalties allowed the Worcester offense to capitalize to put them ahead 3-1 at the end of the first quarter. Hyde battled back with goals from
Jacob Robinson ’20 and Brooks Doll ’17 to even the score at 3-3. Goalie Ian Cooke ’19 was superb in net with help from the ” d unit” of Quetin Felder ’18, Ben Damschroder ’17 and
Grayson Belfer ’18 to go into the half down 5-4.
The wolfpack came out of halftime ready to play and found themselves tied up at 5-5 after a nifty move from leading scorer Ian White to even the game at 5-5. The game continued to go back and forth until with six minutes left in the contest and the game tied 7-7 a costly turnover by the wolfpack proved to be a game changer and Worcester went on a 3 goal run to win the contest 10-7. I was very proud of the boys with the effort and sportsmanship they displayed and we will bounce back as we gear up to defend our SENE league title. Stay tuned!
