Hyde: Hyde lady laxers faced women’s lacrosse powerhouse Hebron Academy Tuesday at the Jaye Family athletic complex. Despite falling to an early deficit the Phoenix held on to claim the victory 15-14. The Phoenix found their rhythm early with Bailey Kent’ and Emma Levensohn’17 combining for 6 goals in the first half. The fierce Hyde attack scored 12 goals and dominated time of possession. The draw circle saw intense competition with Daisy Humsey’17 pocketing 8 draws and 6 ground balls, and two goals. In the net Madison Hughes’20 tied a season high 15 saves. Her saves and quick release to a breaking midfielder led to many of Hyde’s scoring opportunities. The defense continues its stout presence by starting 5 fast breaks that led to goals. Key to the victory for the Phoenix was out scooping the Jacks in ground balls 28-20. Hyde moves to 7-0 on the year and the Phoenix will travel on Friday 5/5 for a re-match with Hebron.
