Hyde School, CT vs. St. Andrews School
Friday 4, November
|First Half Score||Final Score|
|Hyde School–Woodstock, CT||0||1|
|Saint Andrews School||6||6|
On Friday 4, November, the Hyde School varsity team travelled to Barrington, Rhode Island to take on Saint Andrews School; Hyde lost 1-6. Despite the beautiful weather, Hyde knew it was facing a storm of strong competitors because SAS had dominated the league this season. Their squad’s skill level was deep, but their physical strength and height proved to be the deciding factor as the Wolfpack’s players sought to fend off speedy attacks from the flanks and strikers who shielded the ball forcefully. Though Hyde countered on occasion with the help of Brooks Doll ‘17 and Derek Rwikangura ‘18, SAS confidently kept moving the score in its favor throughout the half and finished with six goals.
In the second half, both teams reset their objectives with an eye on the post-season. The Wolfpack defense picked up its effort and maintained better shape, individual players kept man-marking assignments, and Jon Bell ‘17 was able to use his skill to best his defender to put Hyde on the scoreboard. The game finished more competitively, and the players gathered confidence going into the league playoffs.
Hyde faces the Rocky Hill School at 2:00 PM on Monday 7, November in the first round of the SENE playoffs.
