Phoenix Girls JV Soccer Battles Hebron to 1-1 Tie

Hyde: 1

Hebron: 1

On October 25th, Hyde girls JV soccer traveled to Hebron and played in light snow. The game started slow due to the low temperature. During the first half, Hebron had some strong shots but all saved by Faith Spath. Pretty soon, Hyde defense line Halle Bonds, Sam Wisdom, Madison Hughes and Patricia Mugabo warmed up and didn’t allow Hebron getting too close to the goal. With the support from defense, center mid Haley Baustert made two shots but were both saved by Hebron goalie. The first half ended with 0-0.

Two minutes into the second half, Alice Yokabaskas took a strong shot from the right side on the edge of the 18, but blocked by a Hebron defense player. The ball bounced out and trapped by Grace Yu. Grace took control of the ball and made a parallel pass to the center, where center mid Haley Baustert received the ball, took a gentle touch and then put it into the net. 10 minutes after, Hebron also scored a goal and tied the game 1-1. For the rest of the time, Hyde and Hebron played neck to neck, but neither team could score another goal again.

Shout out also goes to Julia Varney for putting in 100% and communicates well with the team on the field. Our next game is at home on October 29th against Gould Academy. Hyde JV girls have made it into playoff for MASAD.
