On Saturday, the Wolfpack headed to the north shore of Boston to take on the Highlanders of Pingree School in an Evergreen League divisional match-up. Pingree was coming off a loss to Holderness and Hyde was coming off a loss to Tabor so both schools were eagerly looking to get back in the win column. Hyde received the ball first and methodically marched it down the field with a drive that took up the first eight minutes of the first quarter. A fumble in the red-zone caused by a well-timed A gap blitz stalled what looked to be a sure touchdown drive.
Pingree would follow suit and marched the ball down the field only to fumble it away back to the Wolfpack. The first quarter ended scoreless. However, Pingree grabbed the momentum and was able to find the end-zone twice in the second quarter and Hyde went into the half down 14-0. The Highlanders scored in the third quarter to stretch their advantage and finally in the fourth Hyde was able to put together and finish a mistake free drive when Ian Ricketts ’17 scampered for a 15 yard run. Ben Damschroder ’17 successfully kicked the point-after-try.
Running back Jordan Knight ’17 had an exceptional day with his tough running, tight coverage, and overall leadership. The team looks to improve this week as we get ready for an exciting night Saturday when we host the Rams of Tilton School for a 7pm kick-off on Family Weekend in Woodstock.
