The Wolfpack traveled to Marianapolis for their homecoming meet. Choosing to squeeze in some tough workouts leading up to the race, the guys were undoubtedly a little tight, and missing Ryan Wang from our 5th spot. Coach Welch was also away, and Mr. Labeef was kind enough to travel with and support our team. Andrew West ‘17, trying some things out, went out much faster than usual and tried to hang on. Ultimately it cost him a few seconds vs. his PR but he ran an excellent 17:49 just 10 seconds behind his best, and finished in second place despite a blistering start. Khalil Johnson ‘17 had a fantastic race finishing in 19:41 in 11th place with Mehki McCray ‘17 in 13th just behind in 19:49. This is an exact match of Mehki’s personal best, and an improvement of 27 seconds for Khalil. Omar Raddaoui ’17 peeled off another 4 seconds dropping down to 20:50 in 22nd place. While we’re in a stretch of meets where we are missing key runners it is tough to see team scores suffer but seeing the progress each individual continues achieve makes the end of the season look promising for them. This weekend we’ll take the short trip down to Pomfret to run against them and Rectory. Wish them luck!
