St Thomas More 102 isher Island School No Score
The Wolfpack traveled to Williams School to compete at their Athletic Day against PCD, Williams, St. Thomas More, and the Fisher Island School. The Williams course is a challenging one with plenty of rocks, roots, and hills. The course was made more challenging by recent flooding which washed out portions of the trail. Andrew West ’17 took off to an early lead and controlled the race from the first steps. He completed the course in 19:14, the nearest competitor was a full minute behind. Andrew continues to develop endurance as a new runner looked strong throughout the course. Mehki McCray ’17 finished the course in 6th place with a time of 21:08. He and Khalil Johnson ‘17 who finished in 10th place with a time of 21:44 went out to chase the front runners and showed significant improvement in their race despite the terrain. These were not their fastest times of the season but they mixed it with runners who had previously beaten them by a significant margin, beating some and closing the gap on others. The team was missing Ryan Wang who usually runs in the 5th spot on the team. His absence left a large gap between our 4th and 5th spots and cost us some points as a team. All around though, the guys did a great job. They continue to nip at the heels of Williams and but fell 8 points shy of beating them for the day. The guys continue to put in hard work to prepare for the upcoming races. Wish them luck against some great competition at the Marianapolis Invitational this Wednesday after noon, and against Worcester this coming Saturday.
