On Saturday April 9, Hyde GLax played North Yarmouth Academy on the Turf. Excited for a fun challenge against a formidable opponent, the women’s lacrosse team came out strong but fell down two goals in the first five minutes of the game. The girls worked together, put together some beautiful transitions and went up 5-4 by the end of the first half. The offense showed its depth by producing 11 goals from 5 different players. Emma Levensohn ’17 led the team in scoring with 4 goals. Lutes Bartlett ’16, Taylor Lincoln ’16, and freshman Brooke Clement each had 2 goals and senior Jill Tolman rounded off the scoring with a goal of her own. The Hyde defense, led by senior Kelsey Talbutt, came out strong in the second half and held NYA to only one goal in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Taylor Lincoln dominated the midfield, scooping up the most groundballs on the team and making her presence known across the entire field. Senior goalkeeper, Diamond Brown played her best game of the season so far, making a total of 17 saves and several key interceptions from the goal crease. Coming in as the underdog, Hyde was ready to work hard to keep up with a strong team. Ringing the victory bell after the game for our 11-9 win was a moment of accomplishment and pride for this talented group of young women.
