The Girls varsity lacrosse team continued its winning streak with a 14-4 win over Boothbay Harbor on Monday at the Hyde Turf complex. The first half saw back and forth scoring until the Phoenix found its offensive footing. A strong midfield game by Jill Tollman ’16 led the fast paced offense. Jill was a force on the clear and set up many fast break opportunities. Two of her favorite targets were Emma Levensohn ’17 and Brooke Clement ’19. Both girls finished with five goals. This was a breakout game for Clement who showed her dominance around the crease. Levensohn continued her streak of scoring in every Hyde game she has played for the Phoenix. Lutes Bartlett ‘16 and Sara Feldman ’16 also contributed to the dominant attack in the second half. Rookie midfielder Willow Bevis ’17 played a solid defensive game. Possession was a key factor in controlling the pace of play and Taylor Lincoln ’16 took firm control of the draw winning 6 of 8. Arianna Howard ’18, Anna Presson ’16, and Ida Danforth ’17 worked hard to keep the Boothbay attack from penetrating the 8 meter line. The defense was anchored by senior Kelsey Talbut, who made some key changes at the break to hold Boothbay scoreless in the second half. Goalie Diamond Brown ’16 had another stellar game with 16 saves. The Phoenix will play MAISAD opponent Gould Academy Friday at the Hyde turf at 4:00.
