Wolfpack Varsity Wrestlers Go Up Against Pomfret Rivals

Hyde-Woodstock: 26

Pomfret School: 48

Hyde-Woodstock hosted its  second home meet of the season against neighboring Pomfret School.  Our two campuses have had a friendly rivalry for years, as well as a cooperative spirit seeing as we tend to join them for practices as we get closer to the league and New England tournaments.  This year was an exciting one, especially since the varsity basketball team has taken a vested interest in bringing their school spirit to our mats.  With loud cheers and hard work by all, the day was a great success.  Some great matches were had by many and the highlights included Corban Basile ’18, who earned a technical fall at the 145lb class, Alex Sobel ’17 with a tough fought win by decision (7-3) and Sean Duffy ’17 who had an electrifying pin at the 160lb class.  Several other wrestlers fought hard but succumbed to pins.

We will be having our next match this upcoming Saturday at Lexington Christian Academy where we face the host school along with Marvelwood and Worcester.  Wish us luck and stay tuned to twitter for pictures and updates.  Remember that the Wolfpack varsity wrestlers “can’t stop, won’t stop.”
