(November 4 – Portsmouth, RI) – The Hyde Girls Varsity Soccer played their final game of the season against Portsmouth Abbey School with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and fun. Although the final score was not in their favor (Portsmouth 8-2), the Wolfpack played their strongest game of the season. The odds were not in their favor – missing key components of the defensive and midfield lines, the Varsity squad owes a great deal to the JV players who stepped up and gave their all. With only one day of training, Tracy He ’16 played in the net and inspired her teammates with some fantastic saves (including a direct penalty kick!) and her excellent sense of humor. Leading the pack on the field was Alexis Bourgoin ’17, who scored both of Hyde’s goals. With only one substitute, the players found themselves in new positions, and midfielders Joanna Ren ’16 and Melissa Leventhal ’16 both found themselves trying out defense and doing a fabulous job. The two teams were evenly matched, and the Hyde athletes played a game that was a testament to the hard work they have put in to increase their skills and fitness. Overall, the game was a successful end to an inspiring season, and we wish our seniors the best of luck!
