Bath, ME (October 24, 2015) – The Wolfpack JV Girls Soccer team faced off against their longstanding rivals and the equally talented Hyde Phoenix Girls JV soccer team today up in Bath, Maine. Headed into this game, the team was extremely motivated and excited about playing their first away game, and especially against Hyde Bath. Each team from the Woodstock campus plays Bath each fall in hopes of winning the coveted President’s Cup. The school that wins the most games takes home the cup. The girls stepped onto the field confident, driven, and excited to show off what they had been working on so diligently in practice. Captains Jiwon Chun ’18 and Katherine Li ‘17 led their teammates onto the field prepared and ready to play. The teams, equally matched in skill and athleticism, played hard the entire game. Sophomore Claudia Salhany ‘18 proved to be a force on the field, communicating effectively with her teammates and carrying the ball skillfully up the field. Salhany scored the first goal for the Woodstock team within minutes of Bath scoring the field goal of the game. Senior Tracy He ’16 scored the second goal of the game in end of the second half, tying with the Bath team 2-2. Our defense was absolutely demanded by Senior Caramia Davis ‘16. After being sidelined for a few weeks with an ankle injury, Caramia dominated the Woodstock defense today. She stepped to the ball, handled the ball with skill, and cleared the ball up and out of our defensive zone over and over. It was great to have her back in the game. It was a quite a disappointment that there was not a more definite win or loss of the game, but it was clear that our passing and ball handling have improved dramatically during the course of the season. We look forward to playing Bath again next year!
