Hyde School 16
Tilton School 26
On Saturday, the Wolfpack football team traveled north to Tilton, NH to take on the Rams of Tilton School. Hyde came out solid and scored first when Jordan Burney ’16 ran it in on a short run and junior quarterback Reese Norton ’17 converted the two point conversion run to take an 8-0 first quarter lead. However, on Hyde’s next drive, a critical red-zone turnover handed Tilton a spark that lit a fire which the Wolfpack was never able to fully extinguish. Tilton scored in the second quarter and Hyde brought a narrow 8-6 lead into the half while the Rams possessed the momentum. In the fourth quarter, Hyde was down 19-8 when Burney returned a kick-off for a touchdown which provided a much needed morale boost. Reese found wide receiver Teddy St. Louis ’19 for the two-point conversion pass and closed the gap to 19-16 with five minutes to play in the game. Tilton was able to possess the ball and eventually find the end-zone one more time to close out the scoring at 26-16. Hats go off to the Rams for playing inspired football and earning the victory.
Hyde travels north again next Saturday to take on the Huskies from New Hampton School at 2:30pm.
