On Friday night of family weekend, Hyde welcomed the Pingree School for an Evergreen League, Clements Divisional match-up. After a scoreless first quarter, Pingree exploded for three touchdowns in the second to take a 21-0 advantage into halftime. The third quarter belonged to the Wolfpack sparked by a blocked punt touchdown return by junior Sean Duffy ’17. On the ensuing drive, Hyde marched right back down the field and Jordan Burney ’16 finished the drive with a short touchdown run. Suddenly, the Wolfpack were right back in it down 21-14. However, the momentum stalled when Pingree forced a safety to go up 23-14. The Highlanders were able to score once more in the fourth to close out the scoring at 30-14.
Defensive Player of the Game goes to senior linebacker Marcellus Piper ’16 who recorded over a dozen tackles on the day including many for a loss. The Wolfpack look forward to the next challenge as we head up north on Saturday to take on the Rams of Tilton School at 2:45 in New Hampshire.
