On Saturday, Hyde hosted the Holderness School for an Evergreen League (Clement Division) match-up. Hyde came out strong and took control of the game early by scoring 20 first quarter points. The Wolfpack defense was outstanding all day and put lots of pressure on the Holderness quarterback. After the quick start, the second quarter was scoreless. Hyde scored 13 more in the third quarter and 7 in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
PG running back Jordan Burney ’16 (203yds., 21 carries, 3 TD’s, 1 2pt. conv.) had an outstanding day running the ball. Jordan also had numerous sacks and tackles on the defensive side of the ball. The offensive line worked hard opening holes for Burney. The boys upfront doing the dirty work included Wesley Docsol ’16, Tyler Dewees ’16, Omri West ’16, Sean Conigliaro ’16, Wren Piper ’16, Jake Dickerson ’16, and Quintin Felder ’18.
Quarterback Reese Norton ’17 had a solid day both offensively and defensively highlighted by a 67 yard touchdown strike to wide-out Teddy St. Louis ’19.
Defensively, senior captain Omri West ’16 continued his dominance at defensive end and bothered the quarterback all day. PG safety Daylen Wiggins ’16 had two interceptions including a pick-six.
Hyde heads into a bye week this week at 2-0. The team will begin preparation for another Clement Divisional match-up on Friday, October 16th at 7:30pm at home on Parent’s Weekend vs. Pingree School.
