Hyde vs. Rocky Hill
Hyde boys varsity soccer faced a tough opponent in Rocky Hill on a beautiful late summer evening. Both teams came ready to play and hit the field with a lot of energy and nerves. Early on, Rocky Hill connected some excellent passes to open the game with the first goal. The Wolfpack did not flinch however and maintained a strong defensive line with great defensive playing from Anthony Matocchio ’16, Markus Ryner ’16, Cole Redding ’17, and Aaron Cao ‘16. Around the 15 minute mark Hyde struck back with a nice assist from Jonathan Bell ’17 connecting through the defense to Kris Carroll ’16 for a shot from 12 yards out to the back of the net. This energized the Hyde team however, that energy was quickly deflated as Rocky Hill struck back several times to break our defensive line and score multiple goals ending the first half 1-5.
During the second half, the Wolfpack suffered several injuries to key players and communication on the field began to break down. Ultimately, Hyde suffered a 1-10 defeat. Moving forward, the Boy’s squad needs to work on possession, effective communication, and supporting each other from the back. We look forward to another week of learning and hard work as we prepare for an away game against Masters on the 23rd of September.
