The Phoenix boys thirds soccer team welcomed Gould’s thirds team on a warm and sunny Wednesday afternoon. Playing a short sided match at 8 on 8, Hyde suffered from a shortage of players, going without any substitutes for the second half of the match.
Despite facing a much larger team from Gould, the Phoenix never gave up, trailing by a single goal at halftime and never ceasing to out-hustle the opponent. Jack Coray ’18 held down the net in an impressive debut to the keeper position. In front of him, Caleb Lowry ’17 acted as the defensive stalwart that kept the Phoenix in it until a couple of last minute goals put the game out of reach. Shawn Shao ’17 played a strong all-around game, providing a spark for the team on both ends of the pitch. Everyone on the field worked their hardest and refused to give up until the final whistle.
The boys look forward to their next contest at home against rival Hebron on the 30th of the month.
