This just in from faculty member Fan Luo!
On June 3rd, team China members Ken Grant, Claire Grant, Fan Luo, Bob Felt, and Bei Zhou arrived in Beijing. Despite jet lag, team China opened our FLC in the Beijing Ritz-Carlton with great enthusiasm. Three Woodstock families and two Bath families participated (as well as several family relatives). After a few mingle exercises, we talked about achievement culture versus character culture, shared our pivotal moments, and jumped into seminar right after lunch.
By the end of the workshop, Louis Liu’s Mom said, “I have been feeling guilty for years about the wrong decision I made on my son’s middle school choice. After hearing from him today, I feel a heavy rock being lifted off my chest. I feel we can finally let go and move on.”
“Wow, it’s really important to communicate with my son in an emotionally deep level. He is growing so fast, we as parents must grow with him.” said Sam Song’s father with a smile while processing emotions stirred by the seminar that just ended.
During circle wrap up, Sam Song’s Mom shared, “I have never been to a teacher-parent meeting like this. The teachers and the Head of School are so involved with my son’s feelings and growth.” Jack He’s Mom also said, “I’m impressed by the effort my husband put into the process. I’m very grateful.”
Team China went to the airport right after the FLC to catch a flight to Shanghai where Hyde’s next FLC will be hosted. Stay tuned for our Chinese FLC Shanghai workshop on June 7th.
