Kent’s Hill Huskies-9

“The Game of Their Lives”

It has been an incredible week for Hyde girls lacrosse, with two come-from-behind victories and the showings of what makes for a championship team! The latest battle earned  them a spot in the MAISAD finals this Friday, May 15th, at Hebron Academy. While Kent’s Hill may have upset the Phoenix by a substantial amount in the week previous, it was an entirely different scenario this time around.

The Huskies created a lead from the beginning, quickly netting two goals within the first five minutes.  Emma Levensohn ’17 and Jill Tolman ’16 were having none of that however, and responded with fast transitions and even faster shots on the oppositions skilled goalie.  With the help of our fearless and scrappy middies, Merrill Truluck ’18 and Alex Bassinger ’17, the Phoenix put up a valiant fight, yet ended the half down by two.

It was in the second half that Hyde began to show the grit and tenacity needed in order to exert it’s dominance.  The Phoenix now knew they had the talent it would take to beat the Huskies and advance to the finals.  Kelsey Talbutt ’16 led the defense in some of their best play of the season.  Arianna Howard ’18, Anna Presson ’16, Kristine Bailey ’16, and Allie Grover  ’17, came together to block each strategic attempt made by the Huskies to infiltrate Hyde’s net. As always, a special shout out to goalie Diamond Brown ’16, who was a tour de force with a total of 17 saves!

We hope to see you all at the finals tomorrow afternoon!
