On Wednesday May 6th the Phoenix boys took their longest road trip of the season to face Tilton School, the first time in several years.
On defense, Jesse Higgins (’16) was a grabbed six groundballs and became an integral part in the clearing game yesterday. Starting his second game on varsity, Thompson Upham-Davis (’16) played the entire game with great effort. In net, Noah Horning (’15) had a competitive game with 14 saves; two of which were one on ones and the others were saves right on the crease.
Our short stick midfielders were hard at work and competed to grab many groundballs and worked the ball around to help rest the defense. Captain Aidan Sperry (’15) and Shemar Jack (’16) battled for groundballs and helped push the transition from defense to offense. Splitting the faceoff duties Sam Zanta (’15) and Shemar went 52% but had some trouble getting the loose groundball after the scrum. Offensive highlights came from Greg Kidger (’17) who put away two goals from great off ball movement and Mike Harris (’15) who sniped in a season high five goals.
At the end of the match, Tilton won 11-10. The boys look to their next game away at Gould on Saturday May 9th.
