St. Andrews – 15
The Girls Lacrosse team traveled to St. Andrews on Monday afternoon to play their first game after a solid week of practice. It was a lovely spring day weather wise but competition wise, it felt more like a blizzard of goals against. The team started the first half off slow having trouble marking on defense and remembering the basics. The girls played more as a team in the second half which helped them improve and create some positive plays on the day. Highlights were Allison Guan ’16 who showed consistent aggression and came up with some crucial caused turn overs on defense. Tracy He ’16 played her first game in the midfield and showed great poise as she carried the ball with confidence towards the offensive end. Maddie O’Connor ’16 scored the only goal on the day giving the team a much needed boost of energy and confidence early in the second half. Tina She ’16 competed for many ground balls and was an essential force for the team in the midfield. She had an excellent shot on goal to end the game which unfortunately found the goalie’s stick instead of the back of the net. It was good to see the girls work hard till the final whistle and we look forward to continuing to work on the basics at today’s practice.
