Though ultimately outdone by a strong Moses Brown team, Hyde athletes showed well in most all events and truly began to demonstrate the progress and hard work they have been putting in all season.
The boy’s team set a serious tone in the field events by placing in shot put, discus, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and high jump. Leonard Moore threw with consistency and grace earning 2nd place in both shot and discus with a personal record in the later. Ryan Slutzky achieved reached new heights with a soaring personal best of 8’ in the pole vault, and Peter Yang came into his own with a 1st place showing in long jump and 2nd place in triple jump.
The boy’s runners continued the pace of the meet with great performances by athletes Jessie McKiernan and Corbin Basile. Jessie took 2nd in the 800 with season’s best 2:07 and Corbin took 1st in the 3000 with a time of 11:02 and 2nd in the 1500 with a 5:00.
Hyde girl’s showed grit and determination as they once again battled against a field of deeper and more experienced teams with great performances by Dossou Ndiaye and Alexis Bourgoin. Alexis took third in both the 1500 and the 300 Hurdles and Dossou placed in three events with a 1st place shot put, 2nd place javelin, and 3rd place triple jump.
