Yesterday, the Hyde Girl’s Lacrosse had somewhat of a slow start in the first half of their game against St. Andrews. Despite the start, the second half really showed just how much the girls have improved in the last 3 weeks. Tracy He ’16, continuously proves to be the anchor of our defense. Through her tenacity she was able to cause turnovers and clear the ball out of our defensive end. Our MVP for the day was Joanna Ren ’16. Joanna showed aggressive defense forcing players to slow down in the midfield. She hustled to every ground ball and was a major asset in our transitions. Maddie O’Connor ‘16 proved to not only be a major component of our midfield and defense, but also our offense scoring Hyde’s only goal for the day.
The highlighted play was a draw control won by Tina She ’16 who quickly found Leah Taylor ’16. Leah was able to get around a few defenders crashing on her to find Annika Morris ’18 wide open with a lane to goal. Within a 3 week period the girls have gone from learning how to throw and catch to making several connections on the field. They have showed tremendous improvement in both their skill and their teamwork. The team will now gear up to face our biggest rival Hyde-Bath on Saturday at 1:00.
