The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team kicked off their regular season schedule with a win over Fryeburg Academy. The Phoenix needed most of the first half to get their feet under them as they conceded the first goal and struggled to find production on the offensive half of the field. Solid team defense from Andrew Davis (’15), and brothers Isaac Higgins (’15), and Jesse Higgins (’16) kept the team in the game until the team found their stride.
Production starts with possession, and Sam Zanta (’15) earned the ball for the team by digging out nine of twelve from the face-off ‘x’. The squad sparked in the second half, leading after the third quarter 5-2, and ignited in the fourth quarter, doubling their total to finish the game 10-4. Mike Harris (’15) led the crew in points, netting four and assisting in three others. Zanta added two goals and two assists, while Aidan Sperry (’15) beat the keeper twice and added an assist. Attackmen Greg Kidger (’17) and Aidan Bristow (’16) each hit the back of the net with one score apiece.
The Phoenix have a big week ahead as they take on a strong Hebron team on Wednesday and Dublin and Winchendon on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
