The Wolfpack JV Lacrosse team came up short in their home opener against a strong Portsmouth Abbey team, losing 0-10. For the majority of the team this was their fifth day of lacrosse and their first ever lacrosse game. That said, the effort put forth by the Wolfpack was very impressive. It is clear that there is more work needed to be done developing stick skills and conditioning to be game ready, however, this inexperienced team has lots of potential. Abbey possessed the ball the majority of the game in Wolfpack territory, however the impressive efforts of the long poles: Marcus Greenidge ’17, Sean Conigliaro ’16, and Jeremy Gu ’15 made the Ravens work hard for their goals. The Wolfpack’s offensive efforts were led by Anthony Martocchio ’16 but unfortunately his shots didn’t get passed the Abbey’s goalie. Other standouts for the Wolfpack were midfielders, Michael Jawitz ’18 and Devin Churchill ‘17, as well as goalie Ian Cooke. The Wolfpack will be practicing over the next week to continue to hone their skills and will then travel to Avon Old Farms for their second game of the season on Wednesday, April 8th.
