The Hyde Phoenix came out firing on all offensive cylinders Wednesday afternoon en route to their highest point total of the season in a 75-57 victory over Temple Academy. As the ladies took the carpet (yes the court was carpeted) in the tight confines of the Temple gym, they got off to a fast start with 20 points in the first quarter.  They were able to maintain the offensive pressure over four quarters enough to never allow a much-improved Bereans’ team to close the gap.  So. Lilli Allen ’17 led all scorers with 27 points including 4 three pointers, and So. Emma Levanshon ’17 notched a personal high on the season with 15 points.  Jr. Diamond Brown ’16 dominated the boards and chipped in 13 points to the team total.   Jrs. Lutes Bartlett and Jill Tolman’ 16 added 7 and 5 points respectively .  A shout-out goes to So. Timesha Walker ‘17 (8 points) who is starting to find her groove, both in practice and during games.  Walker has a beautiful jump shot that is proving to be a key part of the team’s arsenal as she works to improve her passing and defense.  Despite the offensive success that the Phoenix experienced, the team recognized after the game that team defense is an area that must be addressed in practice.  The team needs to improve on its communication and boxing out skills.  Nevertheless, the team departed Temple Academy yesterday feeling as though they have gotten a bit of their swagger back after two strong performances and improving their season record to 14-3.  Currently, the Lady Phoenix are ranked 4th in the Class D standings, but they can clinch the 3rd seed for the Augusta playoffs if they are able to defeat rivals Valley Friday in the season finale.  Go Phoenix!
