The Hyde Phoenix experimented with some new lineup options Wednesday afternoon as they welcomed the Panthers of North Yarmouth Academy to campus.  A couple of players, including Fr. Merrill Truluck ‘19 and So. Timesha Walker ‘18, earned their first start of the season courtesy of their hard work and hustle in practice.  And while the team struggled throughout most of the game to find a rhythm and a flow, in the end it was a collective effort that earned a nail-biting 42-39 victory for the Lady Phoenix to improve their season record to 12-2.    All eight of the eligible players who suited up for this contest played relatively even minutes, and six of them managed to score points producing the most balanced Phoenix scoring distribution all season.  A shout-out goes to Jr. Lutes Bartlett ’17 who scored 8 of the team’s total 10 points in the final quarter, including two clutch layups to seal the victory.  Once again, So. Lilli Allen ’18 led the Phoenix in scoring with 13 points, while Jrs. Diamond Brown and Jill Tolman ‘17 added 6 and 5 points respectively.  It wasn’t a pretty win for the Phoenix, but at this time of the season, all victories are critical when it comes to tournament positioning.  No rest for the weary as the Phoenix work their way through a difficult 7 games in 10 days schedule which today includes a second trip in 3 days to Pine Tree Academy.  Stay strong, positive, and focused ladies!
