Wolfpack Boys Varsity Loses Momentum Late in Game To Lee Academy

Lee Academy: 47

Hyde: 38

Hyde Men’s Varsity Basketball took on Lee Academy, an impressive all Post-Graduate team.  Early in the game, Lee Academy was able to jump out to an 18-4 lead and were playing with confidence and energy. However, that lead was the largest it would be all game as Hyde was able to slowly diminish the lead throughout the first half, led by the always aggressive Damon Gomes ’15.
Going into halftime, Lee Academy had a 28-19 lead, although the point differential felt much smaller. Hyde was down, but carried the momentum.  In the second half, Hyde continued to chip away at the lead and played with an energy that wasn’t matched by the opposition at any point in the game.  In the last minute, Lee had a 40-37 lead and were very clearly timid and nervous. Unfortunately, they were able to hit free throws and press our team to carry them to a win. This was a big game for Hyde, regardless of the loss. It showed what they’re capable of, and was potentially showing what is to come later in the season for this rapidly improving team.
