With only one day of practice after returning from break, the Wolfpack wrestlers traveled to Windsor, CT for a dual against Loomis-Chaffee. Loomis took 1st last year in the Class A League tournament, as well as earning a solid fourth in the New England tournament. With a challenge set before us, we prepared for a tough fight and the Pelicans certainly gave us a reminder as to why they are the champs. We started at the 195lb weight class and gave up 30 points in forfeits alone. It was quickly evident that we were outmatched as many of our boys fell quickly to pins. The biggest issue we faced was lack of experience, but we also did not put in the extra work over break that would have given us an edge. We will be working this week on some “live” wrestling to condition the team back to full stamina, as well as drilling to improve form and technique. The “man of the match” went to Jack Cardew ’15 who scored our only points on the day with a great 9-4 win by decision. Hopefully we will be better prepared for our upcoming match against our sister school. The Wolfpack v. Phoenix match-up is always a highlight of the season, and we hope to get many spectators into our wrestling room on Saturday at 1:30pm.
