Hyde School 42 vs. David Prouty 37 || Hyde 21 vs. Northbridge 59 || Hyde 4 vs. Uxbridge 77
Hyde Indoor Track traveled to Northbridge High to compete in a larger field of 12 teams, but scoring against 3 teams in the SWCL league. The meet was centered around the team work and rivalry between Christian Bassette ‘16 and Victor Wright ‘17 who competed in the shot, the 50yd, 300m, and the High Jump. In their first time out at shot put they finished 6th and 7th overall accounting for a large portion of the team’s points. Christian out threw Victor by a mere 4 inches with a throw of 32’5.5” Kevin Wang ’15 was not far behind with a throw of 31’2”. In later events Victor took 12th overall and put up points against all three teams running 6.3 in the 50yd with Christian trailing by two tenths of a second in 16th place. Christian then bested victor in the 300m finishing 13th in 47.8 while victor finished 14th in 48.7. Both athletes also made their first attempts at high jump with Victor clearing 4’10” to put up points against David Prouty. On the distance runners side, Bill Lin ‘15 and Ivan Xu ‘15 both put great effort into the mile with Bill putting up 3rd place points against Northbridge and 1st place points against Prouty. Ryan Slutzky ’15 came out hard in the two mile and struggled to maintain the pace but finished 10th overall scoring 1st place against both Northbridge and Prouty, and 3rd place against Uxbridge. Overall there was a lot to be proud of on the track last night. Our athletes handled themselves with class, put in their best efforts, and approached the meet with a learning attitude. I am looking forward to their continued improvement.
