Phoenix GVBB Opens Season at Home Victoriously vs Seacoast 49-27

 After a successful weekend at the Aleigh Mills Tournament, the Hyde Phoenix girls basketball team officially opened the 2014-15 season with a home victory over the Seacoast Guardians 49-27.  As the Phoenix did in the tournament, the girls capitalized on a strong first quarter (19-9) to propel them to victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd.  So. Lilli Allen ’17 led all scorers with 22 points including 11 in the fourth quarter to secure victory.  Allen proved especially effective from long range as she hit five 3-pointers.  Jr. Lutes Bartlett ’16 provided a strong presence in the post as she collected numerous rebounds and contributed 12 points, and Jr. Diamond Brown ’16 acted as a coach on the court as she directed players and distributed assists.  So. Timesha Walker ’17 played tight defense and added 11 points to the team total.  Jrs. Kristine Bailey and Emma Levenshon ’16 both provided key minutes and key rebounds in the post along with solid defense.  Through the strengths and challenges of this Phoenix victory, the team recognizes the need to improve its synergy and collective commitment to a common goal.  The team truly controls its own unique potential and will work hard to develop it.
