The wolf pack traveled to Kents HiIl Maine for the 5th Annual Aleigh Mills Tournament. The team faced Kents Hill in the first round. Hyde started off slow in the first half both offensively and defensively. Senior Trayniece Mims kept the team afloat with 14 points, although Hyde was losing by 12 points in the first period. At halftime Kents Hill led by 9 points. Things began to click in the third period when Hyde tightened up their defense and worked more effectively on offense. Their lead at the end of the third period had dwindled to 2 points and Hyde grew more and more confident. The fourth quarter saw the lead going back and forth with Trayniece hitting both a three pointer and then a foul shot to end regulation in a tie. The overtime period was more of the same with both teams answering each other’s effort. The team came up short but they learned a lot about themselves, their teammates and their ability to fight and stay in the game.

Hyde faced Hebron Academy on the second day of the tournament. The wolf pack started the game much better and found itself up 28-6 at the half. Trayniece Mims ’15 found the bottom of the net 10 times and Dossou Ndeye ‘15 6 times to lead all scorers. Newcomer to varsity Joanna Ren ’14 found herself in a starting spot due to injury and gave a solid defensive effort. Hyde kept the pressure on in the second half with Dossou taking on the scoring burden with 12 points in the second half. Freshman Cameron Yale added 6 points to the effort. The team’s next game is on Monday against league opponent Marianapolis.
