Wolfpack Football Takes Care of Business vs PA, 26-16

Saturday, November 1st

Hyde 26

Portsmouth Abbey 16

On Saturday, the Wolfpack traveled to Southeast Rhode Island to take on the Ravens of Portsmouth Abbey School. It was a tough day weather wise with cold driving rain coming off the ocean. As expected, the Ravens were a tough, disciplined football team that played good football.

The Hyde ground game took care of business as Abbey was fed a steady dose of running backs Marcus Greenidge ‘17 and Jimmy Murphy ’15. Seniors Jack GreenbergDexter Thompson, and Harrison Smith also contributed to the running game. Murphy and Smith also had great games on the defensive side of the ball.

Hyde went up 12-0 in the first quarter and headed into halftime up 18-6. Abbey kicked a field goal in the third quarter to make it 18-9. Hyde was able to finish a nice drive early in the fourth quarter and put the game out of reach, up 26-9. As time expired in the game, the Ravens scored on a touchdown pass and kicked the extra point to make the final 26-16.

The Wolfpack will travel north on Saturday to take on our sister school, Hyde-Bath, for a 7pm start at Morse High School in Bath. With a win, Hyde would secure a birth to a New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Bowl game and play again on November 15th. Go Wolfpack!!
