Phoenix Girls Varsity Soccer Faces Tough Gould Team

HYDE SCHOOL

GIRLS’ VARSITY SOCCER

2014-15

October 25, 2014

Hyde – 0

Gould Academy – 8

The lady Phoenix took the turf to face Gould for the second time of the season.  The teams met earlier at Gould and the game was extremely one-sided with the Hyde squad suffering missing players and injuries.  This was a different match and despite a large goal differential, the Hyde team had clearly improved over the preceding weeks.  Junior captain Jill Tolman ’16 was back at midfield and gave Gould’s players a run for their money both offensively and defensively.  Goalkeeper Diamond Brown ’15 faced their strikers for the first time and saved several key shots. Marking backs Cherry Weng ’17 and Merrill Truluck ’18 played tough, confidently slowing down their marks.  Despite a six goal margin at half, the Phoenix were able to stall the scoring, only allowing two goals in the second half.  The Hyde girls played well against a very talented Gould squad.
